Following Week 8's results, some NFL teams decided it was finally time to make a trade prior to the deadline, with the Denver Broncos being one of them. The Broncos decided to move on from Demaryius Thomas, allowing one of their young receivers to get more playing time. The biggest beneficiary will be rookie Courtland Sutton, who's had a growing role in the offense but should be closer to being a full-time contributor now.

Thomas is vacating a 19% target share, and on a per-game basis that results to 7.0 targets. Around a quarter of the team's air yards will also be missing from the team. That is a sizable amount of volume missing not only for this game against the Houston Texans, but for Denver's rest of season outlook. Sutton should see a boost to his 4.6 targets per game, and already has a large air yards market share (22%) relative to his role.

Sutton's catch rate this season has been below average, converting only 46% of his targets. This in large part can be attributed to his 14 average depth of target (aDOT), acting as the team's deep threat. It can be reasonably expected that the depth of routes will drop, hopefully allowing him to convert more targets into catches.

For sub-$4,000, very few receivers will be able to flirt with double-digit targets in Week 9, so now is the time to buy into Sutton before his price rises across all DFS platforms.
