Aaron Jones Is Coming to a Fantasy Roster Near You

If you've been reading numberFire for any amount of time, you probably know that we're pretty much all Aaron Jones truthers. He's dominated that backfield in pretty much every metric that matters in each of his two seasons, and yet he's been frustratingly locked up in a timeshare with Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery for the entire 2018 season.

Week 8 might be the start of something new for Jones, who out-touched his Green Bay Packers teammates 14 to 7 in their loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He averaged a jaw-dropping 7.2 yards per carry with a long run of 33 yards, while adding a top-notch 0.28 Net Expected Points -- the expected value he added to his team's total -- with each rush.

Jones looked unstoppable in the first half and handled all but two running back opportunities in the second. Williams logged just one carry in the second half while Montgomery drew only one second-half target (which he failed to reel in). The Packers replaced Montgomery with Jones immediately following that target, and it was Montgomery who cost his team a shot to win the game late with a kick-return fumble.

He apparently ignored the coaching staff's request to make a fair catch of the kick and opted instead to run it out of the end zone. The resulting fumble cost the team the game, but it could also end up costing the back his job as reportedly the whole team is pretty angry with him right now.

Jones established himself as the top dog in this committee in Week 8, and he could see even more opportunities if the team dials back Montgomery's usage in response to his mistakes. If Jones is out there on your waiver wire, you need to pick him up. He's got league-winning upside if he emerges as the Packers' lead back.
