Marquise Goodwin, WR, San Francisco 49ers

FanDuel Price: $5,200

DraftKings Price: $5,000

Marquise Goodwin was a popular play last week, especially on FanDuel at just $5,500, but he and the 49ers' posted quite a clunker in what was considered to be a good matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

Quarterback C.J. Beathard was dreadful last week, and while the one game is a very limited sample, it isn't out of the question that we see a similar performance this week on the road against the Arizona Cardinals. A receiver like Goodwin is especially tied to the performance of his quarterback, as his 17.6 yard average depth of target (ADoT) ranks as the fourth-highest in the NFL. While the injured Jimmy Garoppolo frequently hit Goodwin on deep balls, the speedster has struggled to find similar rapport with Beathard. Goodwin did go off for a 4/126/2 receiving line against Green Bay in Week 6, but that performance appears to be a huge outlier. For a guy averaging only 3.8 targets per game and just a 9.5% red zone target share, hitting on a deep ball is akin to flipping a coin at this point.

Goodwin's exploitable matchup that fell on its head last week against the Rams is in sharp contrast to what he will see this week against an Arizona secondary that funnels short targets to the middle of the field (69% overall completion rate allowed) but limits big plays (11th in passing yards allowed per game). Goodwin will be on the outside, and he should see a healthy dose of stud corner Patrick Peterson. Peterson has the speed (4.34 40-yard dash time) to keep up with Goodwin (a 4.27 runner himself).

The $5,200 price tag is tempting on FanDuel, but Goodwin is a mere dart throw at this point. With splash-play candidate Martavis Bryant at just $100 more and projected to command a larger target share this week, he's a wiser dart throw than Goodwin.
