Early in the season, New York Jets wide receiver Quincy Enunwa seemed to be one of the early candidates for 2018 NFL Comeback Player of the Year. Just one season after he suffered a nearly career-ending neck injury, he was on-pace for 1,112 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns on 84 catches after a month of action.

Then, however, the bottom dropped out on Enunwa’s hot start. In Week 5, he was targeted five times and did not catch a single pass. Then, in Week 6, he caught one pass for nine yards before getting injured and leaving the game.

In the aftermath of the game, we found out that Enunwa had suffered a dreaded high-ankle sprain, putting him out for three to six weeks (Weeks 9 to 12). This is an injury that tends to linger and can lead to complications upon a player’s return to action, however, so it’s likely he won’t be full strength for the remainder of the season.

The Jets have a reasonably deep wide receiver corps and likely won’t push Enunwa’s return. You can let go of him.
