Ito Smith, RB, Atlanta Falcons

A knee injury to Devonta Freeman has opened the door to significant playing time for the fourth-round rookie from Southern Miss, Ito Smith.

Last week, with Freeman on the sidelines and Tevin Coleman promoted to starting back, Smith saw 9 carries for 46 yards and added 1 catch for 8 yards in the Atlanta Falcons' win over the Carolina Panthers. The rookie is likely to see the same Coleman-like workload in Week 3 as Freeman remains out of action. The matchup is a favorable one for Smith to possibly find the end zone for the first time in his career, as the Falcons face their division rival, the New Orleans Saints, in a potential high-scoring affair.

The Saints and Falcons track meet owns the second-highest over/under of the week (53.5). Thanks to the Saints surprisingly porous defense -- allowing 33.0 points per game and ranked 31st by our schedule-adjusted metrics -- Atlanta carries the fourth-highest implied point total (28.25). Even if Smith fails to score, he is looking at another week of double-digit touches, making him worth a play this Sunday.
