Russell Wilson has more cons this week than a federal penitentiary. Not only has he been consumed by opposing defensive fronts (hit on 23.5% of his drop backs), but the Seahawks are coming off of a short week after being dismantled by the Bears on Monday night.
Wilson also has to contend with the opposing Dallas Cowboys' turtle-like pace and the subsequent decline in the number of plays Seattle will be able to run. Given the Seahawks' tendency to start slow as an offense, Wilson may never get in a groove in this one, especially if the first two weeks are any indication.
Most concerning is the lack of support Wilson has received, as Pete Carroll came out this week and admitted he is responsible for sabotaging any semblance of offensive balance the Seahawks could have had in their first two games. With opposing defenses keying in on Wilson dropbacks and a vanilla Brian Schottenheimer scheme, it's no surprise that Seattle is 26th in Adjusted Sack Rate according to Football Outsiders.
With a few projected shootouts on tap, especially in Kansas City and Atlanta, there is no need to play a quarterback in a slumping offense in a less-than-ideal matchup.
