George Kittle: Rising Star

The 49ers had arguably the toughest Week 1 matchup in the league: facing the Vikings on their own turf. The Vikings rank second overall in our Power Rankings and are a force to be reckoned with on both sides of the ball.

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo certainly had his work cut out for him in this game, and eventually threw for three interceptions by the final whistle. But what he revealed before then was extremely important: George Kittle is his guy. Kittle led the team in targets (9), receptions (5), air yards (118) and receiving yards (90) in their tough loss on Sunday.

We learned last season that Garoppolo could help produce a fantasy-relevant receiver, but with injuries to the team's receiving corps in 2017 -- not to mention the quarterback turnover on the team -- we couldn't determine who that pass-catcher would be. On Sunday, Kittle looked every bit the part of an elite tight end. Just take a look at his athletic profile on PlayerProfiler.com to get a sense of Kittle's upside.

The one thing Kittle didn't do on Sunday was score a touchdown, which makes him a perfect target in your fantasy leagues. He was the only top-six fantasy tight end in Week 1 that didn't score a touchdown, and his size makes him an ideal red-zone target. Kittle has legitimate breakout potential in 2018.
