Start Stephen Gostkowski as a Favorite

Our own Jim Sannes wrote a useful article on how kickers performed based on measures such as Vegas spreads, implied totals, and as favorites versus underdogs. Based on his findings, we need to target kickers on heavily-favored teams with implied team total as the tiebreaker. We don't necessarily have that this weekend, but I think Gostkowski is worth a look in this all flex format.

The Patriots are favored by 4.5 points against the Eagles with an implied total of 26.25 points. Stephen Gostkowski should score the most amongst the two kickers.

According to Sannes, kickers on teams favored by less than five points or even scored an average of 8.54 points per game between 2012 and 2014. And when kickers are on teams with an implied total of 24 to 26.75 points, they scored an average of 8.77 fantasy points.

These numbers aren't as ideal as we usually target when it comes to kickers, but Gostkowski has been absolute money in the playoffs during his career. He has made 75 of 78 extra point attempts as well as 32 out of 35 field goals.

Gostkowski is priced at $9,500 on FanDuel which ranks 13th among all players. Gostkowski may be overlooked since he is a kicker, but has the potential to score double-digit points with a relatively safe floor.
