Week 15 NFL Advanced Analytics Superstars
Wide Receiver: Keelan Cole, Jacksonville Jaguars
Keelan Cole, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
7 Receptions, 186 Yards, 9 Targets, 1 Touchdown
Performance Score: 99
It's not every day when undrafted rookies out of Kentucky Wesleyan are topping our charts as the analytic superstar of the week, but then again not every undrafted rookie receiver out of Kentucky Wesleyan has the suddenly-awesome Blake Bortles as his quarterback.
Cole was electric on Sunday, scoring a touchdown for the third straight week while grabbing 7 passes for 186 yards in the process. That was good for a performance score of 99 and a Reception NEP of 15.22. The highlight was his 73-yard catch-and-run that ended at the 1-yard line, with Cole showing off his speed to run past the Texans defense.
With injuries to Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns and Marqise Lee, it was Cole's turn to step up on Sunday. His nine targets were a season-high, and with Lee out for the remainder of the regular season, Cole will certainly have the opportunity to prove he is more than a flash in the pan.
But even if he is, his work on Sunday was one heck of a flash.
