The Denver Broncos have announced Brock Osweiler will be their starting quarterback for Week 9. That should be about all you need to know as to why the Philadelphia Eagles defense makes for a great play.

But to go further, the Eagles defense has been one of the best in pressuring the quarterback -- they're tied for the league lead in quarterback hits (62) -- and the Broncos' offensive line has allowed 25 sacks, fourth-most in the league.

This will be Osweiler's first start since he led the Houston Texans into Foxboro during the playoffs last season. The Texans wound up losing that game 34-16 with Osweiler throwing three interceptions and taking three sacks. His lone season in Houston was beyond disappointing after signing a big free agent contract. In 15 regular season games, he threw more interceptions (16) than touchdowns (15) and was benched in favor of Tom Savage in Week 16. If not for an injury to Savage, Osweiler wouldn't have seen the field in the Texans' two playoff games.

Vegas has the Eagles listed as an eight-point favorite this week, the second largest spread of the week, and the Broncos' implied team total (17.75) is the second lowest. The Eagles are the second-most expensive defense on FanDuel, but in a home matchup against Osweiler, they should be in line for a huge performance.
