Jermaine Kearse, WR, New York Jets

Jermaine Kearse's ascendance to number-one receiver for the New York Jets always seemed a bit like Icarus flying too close to the sun.

But believe it or not, Kearse has been pretty good this year. Through Week 7, his 0.87 Reception Net Expected Points per target ranked seventh among the 47 receivers with at least 35 targets. And his 75% catch rate ranked third among that same cohort.

So why is Kearse a candidate to be dropped? Put simply, he isn't getting the kind of work he was getting a few weeks back. And in Week 8, we finally got to see what his fantasy football floor looked like as he finished with 3.4 PPR points. Gross.

Kearse has failed to eclipse five targets since Week 4. With Matt Forte eating up a lot of the short field looks since his return in Week 6, Austin Seferian-Jenkins gobbling up 44% of the total team targets within the opponent's 10-yard line since Week 4, and with Robby Anderson accruing at least 5 targets in all but one game this season, Kearse's role as the fourth option in the Jets' offense doesn't offer stability or upside.

Drop Kearse for a higher upside player like Corey Davis if you can.
