Wide Receiver

Chalk

If A.J. Green isn't owned in at least 15-20% of lineups this week, it would be pretty shocking. The play-your-guys-against-the-Colts narrative is just as strong here as the other positions, particularly because Green is one of the top three players at his position. Fade him this week at your peril. Beyond Green, however, chalk at the wide receiver position is a bit of a question mark.

Antonio Brown is always in play, of course, but his $9,200 price tag may scare off owners. Carolina receivers should be popular in a matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but I can't tell you with any authority who will be owned more between Kelvin Benjamin and Devin Funchess. Both are solid plays. Expect to also see some love for Keenan Allen this week against New England. He's the second-most tagged receiver this week in expert articles, according to FanShare.

Pivot

Alshon Jeffery, $6,600 (vs. San Francisco 49ers)

Green is going to see so much love this week that there should be a number of highly skilled receivers that fall out of fake football favor. The Philadelphia Eagles' Alshon Jeffery is one of those players. To be fair, he has done little to warrant consideration. Outside of a 7-catch, 92-yard, 1-touchdown line in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs, he has had rather pedestrian output. It makes total sense that people would avoid him.

Yet, there are reasons to expect a breakout soon. His 780 air yards are the third-most in the league behind only Antonio Brown and DeSean Jackson, and he has a target share of 23%. He faces a 49ers defense that is ranked 10th against opposing wideouts and has allowed a number of big games to WR1s, including T.Y. Hilton (7 catches for 177 yards), Sammy Watkins (6 catches for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns), and Dez Bryant (7 catches for 63 yards and a touchdown).

Of course, with the Eagles favored by 13, Jeffery will have to do a majority of his damage in the first half, but that could be all he needs. We project him to return the third-highest value this week.
