Running Back

Chalk:

We'll change it up a bit and start with the value plays, because they are likely to pace the position in ownership. Jerick McKinnon is cheap and in a great spot against the Green Bay Packers, so he will be mega-chalk after what he did last week. With Adrian Peterson out of town, Mark Ingram appears set to take on the role that made him a fringe RB1 in fantasy last season. He and Alvin Kamara both should be popular in a terrific game script.

If paying up at the position, FanDuel players will likely go the route of Kareem Hunt, as the Kansas City Chiefs are home favorites against a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has struggled to defend the run.

Pivots:

Le'Veon Bell, $9,000 (at Kansas City Chiefs): It seems bizarre to ever imagine Le'Veon Bell being underowned, but there are a few factors working against him that will likely keep his ownership lower than it should be. For starters, he flopped as the chalk last week. There's also the fact that this game is being played in Arrowhead Stadium, where the Steelers have a modest 21.25-point implied team total against a Chiefs defense that has a solid reputation but has struggled a bit against opposing backs.

Kansas City ranks 27th in yards per carry allowed (4.6) and 22nd in Defensive Rushing NEP this season. It won't be long before Bell starts to post the monster numbers we have grown accustomed to over the years, and it could definitely come as soon as this week against a defense that has consistently looked soft against the run since the loss of Eric Berry.

Samaje Perine, $4,900 (vs. San Francisco 49ers): Samaje Perine has not impressed with the opportunities he has been given thus far and is likely to go overlooked with the masses focusing on MicKinnon and the New Orleans backs.

It is reportedly a "long shot" that Rob Kelley suits up this weekend, which leaves Perine as the lead back. Head coach Jay Gruden said Perine would receive the majority of the carries, which provides us the rare opportunity to roster a low-owned, cheap back who is playing for the team with an elite implied team total and double-digit home favorites.
