5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 3
A.J. Green Saw 50% of the Bengals' Targets in Week 3
With Bill Lazor taking over as the Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator, a point was made to get A.J. Green more involved.
He was targeted a total of 18 times over the first two games, but in Week 3 against the Packers, Green saw 13 targets while the rest of the Bengals' wide receivers combined for just three. His 50% target share was 11.90% higher than the next-closest NFL player.
Green also turned that into some production -- he hauled in 10 of those passes for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Considering no player in the NFL is averaging even a 40% target share through the first three games, we can't expect Green to continue seeing half of the Bengals' targets each week. However, his output has significantly improved in Cincinnati's new-look offense compared to the first two games of the season.
Next up, Green will get the Cleveland Browns, who are giving up the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing WR1s. That is a great sign for him, who averaged 6.5 catches for 148.5 yards and 1 touchdown in his last two games against the Browns.
