Fantasy Football Week 3 Market Share Report: Joe Mixon Emerges

For the first two weeks, Joe Mixon was buried on the depth chart.

The Cincinnati Bengals' rookie barely sniffed the field, amassing just 17 carries and 21 total opportunities while the team kept riding veteran Giovani Bernard.

Then, in just one game, that all changed.

Mixon doubled his opportunity totals in Week 3, amassing 18 carries and 3 targets in the first game under new offensive coordinator Bill Lazor. He didn't find the end zone, but it's clear the rookie is now the top dog on this team.

That's how quickly things shift in the NFL. One week, a guy is a non-factor for fantasy, stewing third on the depth chart. The next, he's a must-have asset. Given how short the season is with just 16 games, we have to be prepared to react when these changes occur.

Thankfully, we can stay on top of all of these fluctuations by looking at each player's usage within a given week. Premium subscribers can do that using numberFire's daily fantasy tools, which show rushing, receiving, and red-zone market shares over the past one, three, or five games along with the whole season. Using those tools can help you identify which guys -- like Mixon -- are on the upswing while others slide into the darkness.

Which market shares were of note in Week 3? Let's check it out.
