Cam Newton Can't Throw Right Now

You might have missed it, but Cam Newton is not healthy right now. And between offseason shoulder surgery and showing up on last week's injury report with shoulder and ankle injuries, he just isn't producing for fantasy football.

The Carolina Panthers are right to limit Cam's rushing attempts while he recovers from his injuries, but his rushing production was what previously made him a good fantasy football quarterback. In seasons past, he averaged between six and eight carries per game, but in 2017, he is averaging just 4.7 attempts.

His rushing floor dropped, and he is struggling in the passing game. It doesn't help that Greg Olsen is on the injured reserve, but Newton managed a measly 167 passing yards against the New Orleans Saints -- a defense that gave up 346 and 447 passing yards, respectively, in their first two games.

Cam's schedule has been easy on him thus far, but he has underperformed expectations and cannot be trusted for fantasy football purposes going forward.
