San Francisco 49ers

Needs Entering Draft: QB, WR, IOL, OLB, CB
Positions Drafted: QB, RB, WR, TE, DE, DT, ILB, OLB, CB, S

If the Browns were one of the most successful teams at filling their needs this year, the San Francisco 49ers were at worst second place. Quarterback C.J. Beathard isn’t the franchise savior, but he’s a solid, moldable prospect that can come in and be developed this year. By waiting on linebacker Reuben Foster to fall through the first round, the Niners added two impact talents to their front-seven with him and defensive end Solomon Thomas. Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon was a strong get in the second round, though I’m slightly surprised they didn’t add even more cornerback talent in the draft.

The only miss in this draft was not adding more offensive line talent, specifically in the interior. This was a notoriously weak offensive line class, but Pittsburgh guard Dorian Johnson lasted all the way to the fourth round, and West Virginia center Tyler Orlosky went undrafted. They could have done something to address the line.
