Knicks fire president of basketball operations Phil Jackson
The New York Knicks have officially fired president of basketball operations Phil Jackson, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Knicks owner James Dolan made the move official on Wednesday. There is still $24 million remaining on Jackson's two-year contract, but the franchise has decided to go in a different direction. Reports suggest that Toronto Raptors' president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri is Dolan's first target to fill the position.
In the 3 years that Jackson held his title in New York, the Knicks went 80-166 with a 32-50 finish in 2015-16 as the team's best of the Jackson era. The team went 37-45 the year prior to Jackson's arrival.
