10 Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Targets for Week 16

Tomas Satoransky continues to contribute across the board but remains available in plenty of leagues. Which other waiver wire adds should be on your radar?

We're here once again to look at 10 of the most interesting players to emerge off fantasy basketball waiver wires over the past week.

As always, make sure you're checking out last week's edition (and the week before for good measure). We try not to repeat ourselves, but there are always some high-priority options to be found in previous iterations of this column who should still be on your radar if they're out there.

All rankings come courtesy of Basketball Monster.

Now, let's hit the wire.

Kenneth Faried, PF/C, Houston Rockets

Yahoo Ownership: 55%

We rarely talk about guys in back-to-back weeks, but Kenneth Faried went from being an interesting idea when he first joined the Houston Rockets to actually putting up numbers right now.

In four games as a member of the Rockets, Faried is averaging 14.3 points, 0.3 three-pointers, 9.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.3 steal, 1.3 blocks, and 1.5 turnovers in 30.8 minutes per contest, while shooting 60.5% from the field and 45.5% from the free throw line.

The low mark from the line has dragged his nine-category ranking down to 135th over that span, but the points, boards, defensive numbers, low turnovers, and high field goal percentage all make him worthy of an add. Clint Capela still has about a month left on his initial timetable following thumb surgery, so Faried should get more than enough minutes over the next little while to post mid- to late-round value and warrants universal ownership in standard leagues.

Tyreke Evans, PG/SG, Indiana Pacers

Yahoo Ownership: 65%

Victor Oladipo is out for the rest of the season after suffering a ruptured quad tendon last week, and suddenly Tyreke Evans is an interesting fantasy option once again.

The 246th-ranked player in nine-category leagues on the season, Evans has had a disappointing first year with the Pacers, but it might be on the verge of turning around. Just last year, as a regular starter with the Memphis Grizzlies, he was the 45th-ranked nine-cat player on a per-game basis, averaging 19.4 points, 2.2 threes, 5.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.1 steals, 0.3 blocks, and 2.3 turnovers in 30.9 minutes per contest, while shooting 45.2% from the field and 78.5% from the line.

'Reke threw up a dud in his first start in Oladipo's place on Saturday, and his 148th-ranked returns over his last seven games aren't all that inspiring, but it's hard to argue against the opportunity he's going to have moving forward. He's had a few down seasons over his 10 years in the NBA, but he's put up mid- to late-round value whenever the minutes have been there, as they are about to be.

Jahlil Okafor, C, New Orleans Pelicans

Yahoo Ownership: 50%

The New Orleans Pelicans are currently down Anthony Davis (finger), Nikola Mirotic (calf), and Julius Randle (ankle), and Jahlil Okafor is running away with the opportunity that an otherwise empty frontcourt has afforded him.

Through four games as a starter, he's been the 22nd-ranked player in nine-category leagues, averaging 19.8 points, 0.0 threes, 10.8 rebounds, 0.0 assists, 0.5 steals, 2.8 blocks, and 1.5 turnovers in 32.0 minutes per contest, while shooting 75.0% from the field and 50.0% from the line.

His value comes with an obvious expiration date, as Davis, Mirotic, and Randle are all nursing relatively short-term injuries, but Okafor is absolutely a must-add and must-start player for as long as he's getting this many minutes and stuffing the stat sheet to this degree in them.

Tomas Satoransky, PG/SG, Washington Wizards

Yahoo Ownership: 65%

We talked to you about Tomas Satoransky about a month ago, back when John Wall first got ruled out for the season, but his great play recently and still relatively modest ownership percentage make him well worth mentioning again.

Over his last eight games, Satoransky has been the 36th-ranked player in nine-category leagues, averaging 12.5 points, 1.3 triples, 5.6 rebounds, 7.8 assists, 2.0 steals, 0.1 blocks, and 2.3 turnovers in 35.1 minutes per contest, while shooting 49.4% from the field and 80.0% from the free throw line.

Minus the scoring, those numbers are basically as good as (and in some ways better than) what Wall was posting before he went down. People were willing to spend a second-round pick on Wall coming into the season, but 35% of Yahoo leagues are letting Satoransky just sit on the waiver wire. Go figure.

Derrick White, PG/SG, San Antonio Spurs

Yahoo Ownership: 60%

Derrick White has been an early-round asset for over a month -- 33rd in nine-category leagues over his last 18 contests, to be exact -- yet is still unowned in 40% of Yahoo leagues. If that's the case in yours, remedy it immediately.

Over that month-plus span, White has been averaging 13.6 points, 1.1 triples, 4.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.9 blocks, and 1.6 turnovers in 30.6 minutes per game, while shooting a blistering 60.1% from the field and 76.4% from the charity stripe.

He's accomplishing the rare feat of being a true nine-category threat, as there isn't really a discernible hole in that line. He really should be owned and started in every league at this point.

Jonathan Isaac, SF/PF, Orlando Magic

Yahoo Ownership: 50%

Jonathan Isaac has had a bit of a disappointing season from a fantasy perspective, but he's been putting up decent value lately.

Over the last week (four games), he's been the 54th-ranked player in nine-category leagues, averaging 9.8 points, 1.0 three, 7.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.0 steals, 1.8 blocks, and a mere 0.3 turnovers in 28.5 minutes per contest, while shooting 42.1% from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line.

He hasn't been able to find any kind of consistency this year, but maybe this is the start of a hot stretch. If nothing else, he's always a decent defensive specialist, and is worth an add for people looking for help in that area in particular.

Rajon Rondo, PG, Los Angeles Lakers

Yahoo Ownership: 65%

Rajon Rondo has only played 16 of a possible 50 games for the Los Angeles Lakers this year, but he's back now with the best opportunity he's had to put up fantasy value all season.

And in two games back in action, he's done just that. Sunday night was a decent 8-point, 11-assist effort, but the 15 points, 3 triples, 6 boards, 13 dimes, 1 steal, and 2 blocks he posted in his return last Thursday is enough to show you why he's worth an add wherever he remains unowned.

Lonzo Ball is out another three-to-five weeks with an ankle sprain, and LeBron James is still without a timetable to return, so Rondo could put up some retro lines over the next little while.

Cedi Osman, SF/PF, Cleveland Cavaliers

Yahoo Ownership: 40%

Cedi Osman has flirted with standard-league fantasy value at different points this season and has been at it again over the last week.

Over his last three contests, Osman has been the 35th-ranked player in nine-category leagues, averaging 23.7 points, 3.7 triples, 6.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.0 blocks, and 2.0 turnovers in 37.1 minutes per contest, while shooting 52.1% from the field and 76.9% from the charity stripe.

He hasn't been able to find any kind of consistency this season, but he's well worth streaming whenever he's rolling like this. The Cleveland Cavaliers are lottery bound and have no reason not to throw as many minutes at Osman as he can handle, so feel free to grab him and see where this goes.

Patrick Beverley, PG/SG, Los Angeles Clippers

Yahoo Ownership: 25%

Patrick Beverley has started the last five games for the Los Angeles Clippers in place of an injured Danilo Gallinari (back spasms), and has done well with the increased opportunity.

Over that span, he's been the 44th-ranked player in nine-category leagues, averaging 11.2 points, 2.2 three-pointers, 8.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.4 steals, 0.8 blocks, and 0.8 turnovers in 36.8 minutes per contest, while shooting 40.9% from the field and 69.2% from the free throw line.

Beverley's value might dry up when Gallinari eventually returns, but perhaps coach Doc Rivers will elect to keep his hot hand in the lineup over Avery Bradley or Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Either way, Beverley is worth an add now while he's soaking up the kind of minutes he needs to be fantasy-relevant.

Allonzo Trier, SG, New York Knicks

Yahoo Ownership: 30%

Almost every player on the New York Knicks has flirted with standard-league value at some point this season, only to disappear shortly after a mention in this column. It appears to be Allonzo Trier's turn.

Over his last five games, he's been the 50th-ranked player in nine-category leagues, averaging 16.8 points, 1.2 three-pointers, 4.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.0 blocks, and 2.4 turnovers in 25.8 minutes per contest off New York's bench, while shooting a blistering 56.3% from the field and 96.0% from the line.

The rookie guard could disappear at any moment, but like with any Knick who suddenly gets hot, he's worth a look until he cools off.
