If only the Dallas Mavericks were in the Eastern Conference, they might have a shot at making the playoffs. As it stands, they are 20-23 and 13th in the Western Conference, but don't put the blame on Luka Doncic.

The rookie has been everything as advertised and then some. He's putting up 20.2 points, 6.7 boards, 5.5 dimes, and 1.1 steals this season. You know how many other players have averaged at least 20.0 points, 6.0 boards, 5.0 assists, and 1.0 steals their rookie year? One, according to Basketball Reference: Michael Jordan.

Dennis Smith is questionable tonight with an illness. If he misses again, it will be a boon to Doncic's production. Doncic is averaging 43.8 DraftKings points per game when Smith is out, 7.9 more than when he plays.

He faces a San Antonio Spurs team he put up 50.0 DraftKings points against in their first meeting. Our current projections have him at 36.8 DraftKings points, but that assumes Smith plays. If Smith does indeed miss again, then expect that number to jump.
