JaVale McGee, C, Los Angeles Lakers

DraftKings Price: $4,500

Los Angeles Lakers center JaVale McGee has had a tough time seeing the court in the past. He's failed to average at least 10 minutes per game in either of his past 2 seasons and has topped out at just 11.1 in his past 4. If the preseason is any indicator -- and it is -- he could get close to doubling that this season with his new team.

It's not like he hasn't produced in those limited minutes. McGee averaged 1.19 DraftKings points per minute during the 2017-18 season. And in 20 minutes per game this preseason, he's put up 10.3 points, 6.3 boards. Unfortunately, his production has been very inconsistent.

McGee has had three games with at least 14 points and 6 boards this preseason, and then was a fantasy ghost in the others. Using McGee already comes with the caveat of limited court time, and this inconsistency is certainly no help. So just know where to use him when building lineups. If that wasn't obvious, then let me be clear by saying he's worth using as a flier in tournaments only (NO cash games).

Tonight's meeting with the Portland Trail Blazers has the highest total on the slate, and the spread is just 3.5 points (in Portland's favor). We have McGee projected for an underwhelming 15.6 DraftKings points, but his projected upside is 30.8. On a short slate, sometimes you have to roll the dice and go with riskier players who are boom-or-bust. McGee is that type of player.
