Steven Matz (back) officially on Mets' division series roster
New York Mets pitcher Steven Matz (back) has officially made the Mets' National League Division Series roster.
Matz is expected to start Game 4 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has been partaking in bullpen sessions and simulated games over the past week, and it appears all systems are go for the rookie.
Matz will be facing a Dodgers' lineup that finished the regular season ranked third in wRC+ against left-handed pitchers. Matz has a 3.56 xFIP through the first six starts of his career, coupled with 8.58 strikeouts and 2.52 walks per nine innings. The lefty will certainly get a test in only his seventh outing after his promotion from Triple-A.
