Reds' Anthony DeSclafani (elbow) cleared to resume throwing

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Anthony DeSclafani (elbow) has been cleared to resume a throwing program.

What It Means:

The latest scans on DeSclafani's pitching elbow showed big improvement, so they're working out the details of his throwing program now. The right-hander has been shut down for over two months with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament. He seems unlikely to be an option for the Reds before the All-Star break even if things as perfectly as possible.

Our models are skeptical on DeSclafani's remainder of the season; we peg him for a 4.60 ERA, 17.0 percent strikeout rate, and 7.1 percent walk rate in 72 1/3 innings pitched.
