3 MLB Prop Bets to Target on Wednesday 8/10/22

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up (to the tune of cold hard cash) to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing our projections as a guide and looking at the odds provided at MLB odds, here are some spots where you can find value today in the prop-betting market.

Here are some MLB player prop bets to make tonight.

Please note that betting lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Yordan Alvarez To Hit a Home Run (+285)/Jose Altuve To Hit a Home Run (+430)

The Houston Astros have a nice 4.69 implied run total tonight and a great matchup for some home runs.

Ten games and 15 games. That is the length of time it has been since Yordan Alvarez and Jose Altuve have hit home runs, respectively. That's a surprisingly long stretch of games for two great hitters, but it could all change tonight with a matchup against Glenn Otto.

This season, Otto is allowing a .322 SLG, 4.86 xFIP, 1.09 HR, 37.8% fly-ball rate, and 32.2% hard-contact rate versus left-handed hitters. Against righties, he's giving up a .472 SLG, 4.98 xFIP, 2.06 HR/9, 35.4% fly-ball rate, and 35.4% hard-contact rate.

On the other side, Alvarez is rocking a 208 wRC+, .457 wOBA, .369 ISO, 40.5% fly-ball rate, and 46.2% hard-contact rate versus right-handers this season. Altuve comes in with a 132 wRC+, .349 wOBA, .168 ISO, and 36.2% fly-ball rate in the split.

As always, I'm adding Alvarez To Record an RBI (+110) and Altuve To Record an RBI (+155).

Matt Olson To Record an RBI (+130)

The Atlanta Braves have another strong matchup to show their offense again.

After a nine-run outburst last night, the Braves' offense is back on track. Tonight, they are sporting a 5.10 implied run total at Fenway Park, one of the best hitter's parks in the league.

They are taking on Nick Pivetta, who is allowing a .467 SLG, .353 wOBA, 4.87 xFIP, 1.71 HR/9, and 43.1% fly-ball rate versus left-handed hitters. The Braves are absolutely a top option tonight and going here for a player prop is a great idea.

That leads us to Matt Olson, who comes in with a 132 wRC+, .364 wOBA, .268 ISO, 40.7% fly-ball rate, and 42.3% hard-contact rate versus right-handed pitchers. Those are big-time numbers for a great hitter in a great matchup.

I'm also adding Olson 2+ RBI (+440) because the matchup is so favorable.

Jose Ramirez 2+ Total Bases (+110)

With a very clear matchup, Jose Ramirez's player prop is worth considering tonight.

Ramirez for 2+ Total Bases at +110 is a great spot to look at. He's taking on Drew Hutchison from the Detroit Tigers, a pitcher that struggles versus left-handed hitters. This season, Hutchinson is allowing a .437 SLG, .338 wOBA, 13.0% walk rate, and 18.0% strikeout rate, and he's giving up 1.57 HR/9.

This is why we see the Cleveland Guardians with a 4.48 implied run total tonight, a good indication we should see some runs. Ramirez has a 164 wRC+, .399 wOBA, 8.9% strikeout rate, and 50.6% fly-ball rate versus righties. He's an elite hitter with a very favorable matchup tonight.

It's worth considering a little sprinkle on Ramirez 3+ Total Bases (+230), too.
