3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for Wednesday 4/27/22
Stacks are an integral part of daily fantasy baseball. They can push a team to the top of a GPP by driving upside. However, they're also viable in cash games, namely smaller (two-person or three-person) stacks that mitigate the volatility of a full four-person stack.
This article is your home throughout the 2022 Major League Baseball season for the day's top stacks. The primary goal is to identify the highest-scoring upside stack. Still, game theory will play a role in contrarian stacks making the cut as GPP options. Nevertheless, chalky stacks will make appearances in this space, too.

Now, let's look at the top stacks on today's main slate.
Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves are my unrivaled favorite stack tonight. But of course, they're likely to be the chalkiest stack in the most obviously excellent matchup on the main slate. Thankfully, there's a forthcoming potentially contrarian stack you can use with the Braves to offset the chalk.
Getting back to the Braves, they oppose a career minor-leaguer essentially. Mark Leiter Jr. is 31-years old and has pitched just 121 and 1/3 innings in the majors. Moreover, before this year, he last took the hill in The Show as a reliever in 2018. Sure, there have been late-bloomers in the storied history of Major League Baseball. However, Leiter doesn't fit that bill.
He has had a grotesque 5.86 ERA, 4.40 Expected Fielding Independent Pitching (xFIP), and 4.28 Skill-Interactive ERA (SIERA), despite the benefit of throwing 53 and 1/3 innings in relief. Leiter is also a candidate to jumpstart a home-run derby tonight. He has coughed up 2.00 homers per nine innings. Finally, he's been inept against lefties and righties, allowing a .345 Weighted On-Base Average (wOBA) to the former and .364 wOBA to the latter.
You can stack anyone in Atlanta's lineup tonight. Still, my favorite options include their top-four hitters, Ozzie Albies ($4,100), Matt Olson ($3,800), Austin Riley ($3,900), and Marcell Ozuna ($3,000). The quartet can all put a charge into the ball, evidenced by each boasting at least a .205 Isolated Power (ISO) against righties since 2019. with Olson topping the group with a .254 ISO.
Miami Marlins
The Miami Marlins have a matchup that should bring the best out of their bats tonight. Erick Fedde has had a 6.75 ERA with 1.35 homers per nine innings allowed in three starts lasting only 13 and 1/3 innings this year. However, don't worry. Fedde's struggles aren't a small-sample fluke. The 29-year-old righty has had a 5.31 ERA with 1.56 homers per nine innings allowed in 340 and 2/3 innings pitched in his career.
Miami's offense also gets a lift from Fedde's mediocrity to ineptitude against all hitters. With the platoon advantage, he's held righties to a mediocre .323 wOBA since last year. Facing lefties, Fedde has been rocked for a .490 slugging and .359 OBA.
Fedde's more significant struggles against lefties make two of Miami's lefties my favorite hitters to use in this stack. Jazz Chisholm ($4,100) and Jesus Sanchez ($3,300) headline my top picks. Chisholm has had a .219 ISO and 119 Weighted Runs Created Plus (wRC+) against righties since 2021, and he's stolen 27 bases in his last 137 games. Meanwhile, Sanchez has had a .342 OBP, .269 ISO, and 142 wRC+ against righties since last season.
Houston Astros
The Houston Astros haven't found their offensive groove yet. However, that could change tonight, depending on if Glenn Otto has legitimately turned the corner or if he still has hiccups to adjust to in MLB. Otto was destroyed for a 9.26 ERA in six starts spanning 23 and 1/3 innings in his first taste of the majors last year. This year, he made two starts in the minors before allowing only one run to the Oakland Athletics in five innings.
I'm not willing to overlook last year's ineptitude after a promising start against the rebuilding A's. So, I'll gladly fire up Houston's left-handed hitters against a pitcher that has coughed up a .579 slugging and .441 wOBA to the first 42 lefties he's faced in the bigs.
Specifically, my favorite stacking options from the Astros are Michael Brantley ($2,700), Yordan Alvarez ($3,200), and Kyle Tucker ($2,700). Brantley has been an elite table-setter, owning a .396 OBP and 151 wRC+ against righties since 2019. Tucker and Alvarez have delivered more power, recording a .246 ISO and .295 ISO. Though, they've also had a 142 wRC+ and 155 wRC+, respectively.
