MLB Daily Fantasy Helper: Wednesday 5/24/17

Chris Sale is looking like he may be the league's best hurler in 2017, and he has a great matchup on Wednesday. Which other players should we target in MLB DFS?

The beauty of daily fantasy baseball is that the top targets are different each and every day. Whether it's the right-handed catcher who destroys left-handed pitching or the mid-range hurler facing a depleted lineup, you're not going to find yourself using the same assets time after time.

While this breaks up the monotony, it can make it hard to decide which players are primed to succeed on a given day. We can help bridge that gap.

In addition to our custom optimal lineups, you can check out our batting and pitching heat maps, which show the pieces in the best spot to succeed on that slate. Put on the finishing touches with our games and lineups page to see who's hitting where and what the weather looks like, and you'll have yourself a snazzy looking team to put up some big point totals. We've also got our Solo Shot Podcast, which breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day. Here's today's episode.

If you need help getting started on that trek, here are some of the top options on the board today. With the split slates, we'll be focusing on the main slate beginning at 7 pm Eastern.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Chris Sale ($11,800 on FanDuel): Chris Sale's salary is actually lower than it was in his most recent start, so don't be too turned off by that price tag. And he's worth every single dollar. Sale is melting the faces off opposing hitters by holding a 2.16 SIERA, 38.6% strikeout rate, and 5.3% walk rate. That strikeout rate is still on pace to be the highest in league history, and his SIERA is three quarters of a run better than anybody else this year. He's a whole tier above the rest of the pack, and he gets a great matchup against the Texas Rangers. They have the fourth-highest strikeout rate in the league against lefties at 24.6%, and their small-sample wRC+ is just 78. You can't fade a guy pitching as well as Sale is right now, no matter whether you're playing in a cash game or a tournament.
