4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 4/20/17
Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.
Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks. We'll be focusing exclusively on the main slate beginning at 7 pm Eastern. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.
Kansas City Royals
Considering they rank 24th in wRC+ against righties, it's possible we've been featuring the Kansas City Royals too often here. They just seem to keep getting respectable matchups. Not only are they on the good end of that again today, but they get a big park-factor boost in scooting down to Arlington to face the Texas Rangers.
The Rangers are tossing Andrew Cashner out for his second start of the season, and his first didn't give many reasons for optimism. Although Cashner lasted 5 1/3 innings, he had just 2 strikeouts to 3 walks while holding a 4.7% swinging-strike rate. Of the 18 balls in play against him, 8 were hard-hit. Cashner's 4.72 SIERA last year was stack-worthy, and that all came in a league where he didn't have to face a designated hitter. Even a struggling Royals team should be able to clang a bit against him.
Some teams have a "must-use" player in their lineup whenever you want to stack them. This would be a guy whose stick skills stand above his teammates, so if you're checking out the entire offense, he almost has to be a part of that equation. Mike Moustakas is quickly becoming that dude for Kansas City.

In his first 54 plate appearances this year, Moustakas is rocking a 37.5% hard-hit rate and 47.5% fly-ball rate. His price likely won't be as low as $3,200 on FanDuel for long, so we may as well take advantage while we can.
