Javier Baez, SS, Chicago Cubs

FanDuel Price: $2,900

Most of the attention in this game will go to Javier Baez's phenom teammate, Willson Contreras, who will likely be making his first career start behind the dish. That's fully justified because Contreras was disgusting in the minors, but don't let Baez slip through the cracks.

Opposing starter Jaime Garcia got off to a great start this year, but things have fallen off the table his past six starts. There, he has seen his swinging-strike rate dip to 5.3%, allowing his strikeout rate to deflate all the way to 10.5%. The staple of Garcia's game previously had been inducing weak contact, but even that has turned on him with a 35.9% hard-hit rate since then. That opens up a lot of possibilities for the Chicago Cubs' dangerous offense.

Baez's past three weeks have seen him flash major improvements in his peripheral categories, upping his hard-hit rate to 32.6% from 26.8% prior to that. Add in a 34.3% career hard-hit rate against left-handed pitchers, and you can see why it'd be critical to keep an eye on this young pup even with Contreras stealing the spotlight tonight.
