Ryan O'Hearn, 1B, Kansas City Royals

FanDuel Price: $3,500

Remember when Dylan Covey was a thing for a hot second? Yeah, that didn't exactly last long.

After getting pushed to the bullpen towards the end of August, Covey will make a start against the Kansas City Royals tonight, and it says something when a team like the Royals are getting a solid 4.76 implied total.

Despite Covey's 54.6% ground-ball rate that showed some promise early in the year, the end result has been another poor campaign, with a 5.44 ERA, 4.68 SIERA, 16.1% strikeout rate, and 9.6% walk rate. Left-handed hitters have particularly had success against him, producing a 37.9% hard-hit rate and .376 xwOBA.

The Royals probably aren't worth stacking on a slate with plenty of offense, and they're surprisingly lacking in value plays. But the left-handed Ryan O'Hearn might have some appeal as a one-off, with a 50.0% hard-hit rate, 42.6% fly-ball rate, and .409 xwOBA through 113 plate appearances. He's almost certainly playing over his head, as his 10 big league dingers have already nearly matched the 11 he hit in Triple-A over 406 plate appearances earlier this year.

Still, O'Hearn clearly been swinging a hot bat since his call-up, and this is the right spot for him to keep things going. At an awkward price point on a modest offense, he's unlikely to make it into many lineups.
