Matt Carpenter, 1B, St. Louis Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals shouldn't be a chalk offense against Jeremy Hellickson tonight, so it's another opportunity to roster Matt Carpenter without necessarily seeing high ownership. Hellickson is having a nice bounce-back campaign, but a 4.17 SIERA and 18.3% strikeout rate aren't numbers we need to run away from, and Hellickson owns a career 4.77 FIP versus left-handed hitters.

As you almost certainly know by now, Carpenter has been scorching hot at the plate lately, and now has a ridiculous 50.9% hard-hit rate, .475 wOBA, and .441 ISO since the start of July. Slugging 7 dingers over his last 11 contests, he hasn't given us any reason to doubt him yet, and it's impossible to ignore his upside these days.
