Buy Shohei Ohtani

Oddly enough, the injury Shohei Ohtani suffered to his pitching elbow, one that Los Angeles Angels officials thought could result in him needing season-ending surgery, may have actually helped his fantasy value as a hitter.

Splitting time between pitching and being the designated hitter, Ohtani has accumulated only 148 plate appearances this season, making him a frustrating hitter to own in season-long formats. However, now that he doesn't have to worry about pitching, he can be in the lineup virtually every day as a designated hitter. On Sunday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers, he showed why that is a good thing.

Ohtani did not start Sunday night after fouling a ball off his knee, and he is only 3-for-17 since coming off the disabled list on July 3rd. However, he's hitting .275/.354/.519 with 7 homers, a wOBA of .371 and a wRC+ of 141 this season.

When he's in there, he's great, and he's going to be in there on a regular basis from here on out.
