Franchy Cordero, OF, San Diego Padres

Franchy Cordero got a fair bit of attention when he came on the scene in mid-April, but playing for the San Diego Padres tends to leave you forgotten on most nights.

But, tonight, Cordero gets a nice matchup against Ivan Nova, who struggles against left-handed bats. Since joining the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2016, Nova has allowed a .364 wOBA with an 11.6% strikeout rate versus lefties.

That sets up perfectly for Cordero, who struggles with strikeouts, but has massive power potential. He owns an excellent 50.7% hard-hit rate to go with a .377 expected weighted on-base average (xwOBA). PNC Park isn't the best venue for home runs, but don't overlook Cordero as a contrarian one-off in a tournament lineup.
