On the surface, Reynaldo Lopez appears to be a young pitcher who has made tremendous strides to open the season. He has increased his strikeout rate and has a sub-2.00 ERA so far in 2018.

However, Lopez is also walking more batters (11.8% walk rate), and he still allows a lot of fly-balls (47.1% fly-ball rate) -- reasons why his SIERA is 5.01. With the positive results so far this season for Lopez being nothing more than a mirage, it is just a matter of time until the ERA starts to reflect the peripherals.

Lopez's floor is also extremely low against a Minnesota Twins team that ranks top-five in both fly-ball rate and hard-hit rate against right-handed pitching. Especially in a park as conducive to offense as Guaranteed Rate Field, Minnesota's bats should start to heat up.
