Matt Olson burst on the scene last season, displaying incredible raw power in his 2017 campaign. But, on Friday, he has a tall task against Boston Red Sox southpaw Drew Pomeranz.

In his career, Pomeranz has been tough sledding for opposing left-handed batters. Collectively, they have posted a mediocre .273 wOBA, 27.1% strikeout rate, and 28.2% hard-hit rate against him in his career.

In the start to his own big league career, Olson has struggled mightily against left-handed pitching, posting a .282 wOBA and 76 wRC+ against southpaws. Those marks rise to .412 and 164 respectively against right-handed pitching. And the culprits are a significantly lower fly-ball rate (34.8% against lefties compared to 47.1% against righties) and hard-hit rate (34.8% against lefties compared to 40.4% against righties).

Until further notice, fade Olson against southpaws and attack him against right-handers.
