Paul Goldschmidt, 1B, Arizona Diamondbacks

FanDuel Price: $4,300

Paul Goldschmidt has been one of the best hitters in baseball for years now, and that hasn't changed so far in 2018. However, his matchup against Tyson Ross should have you leery of paying up for him in MLB DFS.

Ross's swinging-strike rate isn't in double-digits like it was in his best years (2013-2016), but it is still a respectable 9.0%. Futhermore, he has maintained his ability to suppress hard-hit balls in the air, allowing just a 21.8% fly-ball rate and 28.6% hard-hit rate on the season.

Throughout his career, Ross has been especially tough on right-handers, as he has limited right-handed hitters to a .290 wOBA in his career. This includes a 23.8% strikeout rate, 27.9% fly-ball rate, and 26.2% hard-hit rate.

Moreover, Goldschmidt goes from an otherworldly hitter to just very good one when facing a right-handed hurler compared to a left-handed one. His strikeout rate against right-handed pitching is 23.3% (18.7% against southpaws) and his hard-hit rate sits at 38.7% (47.6% against left-handed pitchers).

At the expensive price tag, Goldschmidt's upside isn't as high as it would be if he were facing a mediocre southpaw.
