The Arizona Diamondbacks' offense is in a strong spot on Thursday. The Giants will be starting left-hander Ty Blach, whose major league career is off to a rough start. Over 42 games since 2016 (including 30 starts), Blach has managed an ugly 5.25 SIERA and 10.9% strikeout rate.

Right-handed hitters have given him an especially hard time, rocking him for a .344 wOBA while Blach owns a 5.07 xFIP in the split. That makes this matchup a great one for Paul Goldschmidt.

Goldschmidt is as consistent as they come against left-handed pitching, notching a wOBA north of .400 against lefties in all but his first season in the majors. He has averaged a .435 wOBA on a 47.6% hard-hit and 10.6% soft-hit rate over his career, and he put up a 49.5% hard-hit and 9.4% soft-hit in the split last year.
