Despite getting off to a seemingly solid start, sporing a .250 batting average and three dingers on the season, the peripherals tell us that Miguel Sano has been more lucky than good to this point.

Sano is striking out an obscene 48.9% of the time. His average is only palatable due to a sky-high .467 batting average on balls in play, though his hard-hit rate is essentially unchanged from 2017.

He also has the misfortune of facing Corey Kluber. Kluber has been dynamite against right-handed hitters, holding them to a .257 wOBA for his career. When facing Kluber, Right-handed batters have a 28.9% strikeout rate, 35.3% fly-ball rate, and just a 25.7% hard-hit rate. Sano could certainly struggle against Kluber, making him an easy avoid here.
