3 Under-the-Radar MLB FanDuel Plays for 4/13/18

Christian Villanueva, 3B, San Diego Padres

The San Diego Padres aren't a terribly impressive offense, and only have a 4.18 implied team total, but Christian Villanueva makes for an intriguing value play at third base against Ty Blach. Blach's numbers aren't exactly intimidating, as he owns a career 5.28 SIERA and 10.9% strikeout rate.

Villanueva remains a relatively unknown commodity at the major league level, but he showed some pop in the minors and has a .397 wOBA and .369 ISO through 67 career plate appearances. He owns an ugly 35.8% strikeout rate and has yet to draw a walk, but the matchup against Blach alleviates some of that risk.

While a 36.8% home-run-to-fly ball rate yells regression, Villanueva will have the platoon advantage against a poor pitcher, making the potential power (seven homers on the year) worth a look as a punt play.
