3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 8/16/17

More people would be taking notice if it were another team, but Carlos Rodon has been on quite a roll lately. Over his past four starts, he's put together a 2.58 xFIP, 32.1% strikeout rate, and 4.6% walk rate. Oh, and those four starts haven't exactly come against cupcakes: the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, and Houston Astros.

Unfortunately, tonight's start comes against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have a 4.68 implied team total. The Dodgers have an active roster putting up a 123 wRC+ and 35.5% hard-hit rate against southpaws, so despite all the good stuff Rodon has done against worthy opponents, this looks a wee bit too dangerous to be taking the plunge. This is especially the case when you consider Yu Darvish is on the other side, and the Chicago White Sox are unlikely to provide much in the way of run support.

Rodon is incredibly cheap and doing some nice things these days, but with the deck stacked against him, we should wait until a future start before deploying him in DFS lineups.
