Although Tanner Roark has a modest 4.52 SIERA, he's turned it up a notch in his last four starts, posting a 3.97 SIERA, 27.5% strikeout rate, and 13.2% swinging-strike rate. The Miami Marlins have a 4.33 implied team total.
Even if you think this is small sample size noise, at the very least, he's tough on right-handed hitters. Since the start of last year, he has a 3.50 xFIP, 22.0% strikeout rate and 22.3% hard-hit rate against them.
Despite an appealing price point, this sours interest in J.T. Realmuto. He's also less effective when he doesn't have the platoon advantage, given his high ground-ball rate (51.1%) and average hard-hit rate (31.6%) against same-side pitching this season.
