3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 8/10/17

Sonny Gray may prove to be a strong asset for the Yankees down the stretch, but there are better assets for your DFS lineups on FanDuel this evening.

We have a fun group of top notch pitchers on tonight's FanDuel slate, and all of Jacob deGrom ($10,600), James Paxton ($9,900), Yu Darvish ($9,700), and Danny Salazar ($9,300) are worth consideration. Paxton looks like your safest cash game play, as he's had a 2.20 SIERA and 33.3% strikeout rate over his last five starts, and gets a rather unimposing opponent in the Los Angeles Angels. Perhaps most impressively, he's walked a mere 1.6% of batters over that span.

But don't sleep on Salazar, who arguably has the most upside of the bunch. In three starts since returning from the disabled list, he's put up a 2.46 SIERA and 39.4% strikeout rate, and the Tampa Bay Rays, while sometimes dangerous, have an active roster striking out 23.3% of the time against righties. However, going back to the start of last year, Salazar has a 10.6% walk rate this season, which probably makes him more suitable in tournaments.

As always, it's important to narrow down your short list of DFS players to target and avoid the suboptimal plays who are overpriced or in tough spots. Let's check out three guys to consider fading on tonight's FanDuel main slate.
