The Texas Rangers have a 4.87 implied team total against Luis Perdomo, and outside of Joey Gallo, most of the lineup is pretty affordable.
Despite the lofty total, Perdomo hasn't been too bad this year -- he has a 3.11 SIERA, 19.2% strikeout rate, 69.1% ground-ball rate, and 20.6% hard-hit rate through four starts. Outside of the below-average strikeout rate, that doesn't exactly have the look of a gas can!
Digging deeper, he also has pretty good career batted-ball numbers against righties. Through 95 innings, he has a 67.7% ground-ball rate and a 26.6% hard-hit rate. This is in stark contrast to his 74 innings against lefties, in which he has a 52.0% ground-ball rate and 38.9% hard-hit rate.
Despite a smaller sample size, that's enough to give some pause, particular given his positive 2017 numbers. While you can still consider using southpaws, it reduces the upside of righties like Carlos Gomez, who is still striking out too often at a 26.7% clip.
