In an effort to pay down and be contrarian, Wade Miley might look appealing with his 28.8% strikeout rate.

But he's 30 years old and has never sniffed this kind of strikeout prowess before. Last season, he had a below-average 19.3% strikeout rate, and his current 9.4% swinging-strike rate doesn't support the sudden leap in punchouts. Miley appears primed for some major regression.

He also has a ruthless opponent in the Washington Nationals, who have demolished southpaw pitchers to the tune of a league-high 157 wRC+.

In addition, Miley had a bizarre and unlucky last outing, in which he was struck by not one, but two liners, injuring his wrist and forcing him to leave the game. He's apparently fine, but there's no telling if he'll have any issues, either mentally or physically, moving forward.
