Jose Bautista, OF, Toronto Blue Jays

FanDuel Price: $3,100

A few days ago, I wrote in this space that it might be wise to disregard the slumping Jose Bautista until he shows signs of life, regardless of the matchup. Things have only gotten worse since then.

Bautista is batting just .109, and his wOBA sits at a miserable .188. Perhaps most concerning, though, is his strikeout rate has risen all the way to 33.3%. He has 66 plate appearances on the season, which is a large enough sample size to begin taking his strikeout rate seriously.

The Toronto Blue Jays are taking on Triple-A call-up Alex Meyer, who showed some strikeout power in the majors last year (24.8% strikeout rate), but had an uninspiring 4.75 SIERA across six starts.

Normally, this might seem like the ideal spot for Bautista to bust out, but his strikeout woes are too concerning, and it's hard to find any reason to think a turnaround is imminent.

Perhaps this is the game Bautista gets back in gear, but on a 15-game slate, there's little reason to take that chance.
