Joey Votto, 1B, Cincinnati Reds

Joey Votto's start in 2017 hasn't been anything special, but the season is still very young. It's going to take more than 38 plate appearances before I worry about a guy that is coming off of back-to-back seasons with a wOBA above .410 and an isolated slugging (ISO) of at least .225.

Votto is especially dangerous against right-handed pitching -- he's posted a 41.9% hard-hit rate against them in each of the last two seasons. He's a wOBA above .420 and an ISO higher than .230 during that time period, as well.

He draws a matchup with a righty tonight, as the Milwaukee Brewers will be starting Jimmy Nelson. He's finished three of his four major league seasons with a SIERA above 4.00, posting a career-worst 4.92 in 179.1 innings in 2016. Furthermore, lefties blasted him for a 36.6% hard-hit rate last year, which doesn't bode well for his chances against Votto.
