Tanner Roark, SP, Washington Nationals

FanDuel Price: $8,600

Following Lester and deGrom, Tanner Roark is the third-most expensive pitcher available. On a day when we're looking for savings, he might seem like a solid option to save a chunk of change.

However, Roark is a better real-life pitcher than fantasy pitcher. Last season, his 20.1% strikeout rate was the highest of his career, and still only around league average. His career rate is just 18.1%, and that's simply not the upside we're looking for in a DFS pitcher.

Roark is also facing a St. Louis Cardinals team that put up a 107 wRC+ against righties last season.

In cash, instead of using Roark, you're better off sticking with Lester or deGrom, and finding salary relief elsewhere.

However, if you're looking for savings in GPPs, there are cheaper options who possess higher upside, albeit with increased risk.

Brandon Finnegan ($7,200) in particular stands out, who put up a whopping 58 FanDuel points in his season debut. He's a wild card (10.9% career walk rate), but showed signs of improvement towards the end of last season (24.6% strikeout rate in the second half).

The aforementioned Glasnow is a top prospect who has also struggled with walks, so he also presents plenty of risk, but the low price point makes him incredibly intriguing. Last year, he had a 22.9% strikeout rate in 23 1/3 big league innings, and a 30.4% strikeout rate in Triple-A. You can even make the argument to use him in cash because you could go all-in on Coors (#YOLO).
