It isn't advisable to use Roark today, but he's not someone you typically pick on, either.

Still, on today's slate you could consider using left-handed bats against him. Last year against lefties, he had an 18.8% strikeout rate and 10.9% walk rate, along with a 29.2% hard-hit rate. In his career, that strikeout rate rests at only 15.2%.

However, it's a different story against righties. Across his career versus right-handers, he has a 20.9% strikeout rate, 52% ground-ball rate, and tiny 21.3% hard-hit rate.

With that in mind, even without a ton of options at shortstop today, Aledmys Diaz isn't the direction you want to go in. If you can't afford Trevor Story ($4,000), and need to move down at shortstop, Asdrubal Cabrera ($2,900) makes for a better choice.
