Joc Pederson, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers

FanDuel Price: $2,800

Joc Pederson hit a grand slam en route to one of the biggest scores of yesterday's slate, putting up 32.7 FanDuel points. The Los Angeles Dodgers once again have one of the best matchups of the day, facing off against lefty Clayton Richard.

So, at under $3,000, why shouldn't you double-down on Pederson? For one thing, he has very stark platoon splits. Against lefties, he has a .146 career isolated power (.240 versus righties) and a career 34.3% strikeout rate. Needless to say, he doesn't like facing southpaws.

Not only that, but for a fairly weak pitcher, Richard holds his own against lefties, keeping the ball on the ground at a 63.4% clip and limiting hard contact to just 20.9%.

In addition to all this, Pederson typically hits sixth, which limits his floor even further. In general, we try to stick with the top five hitters in the order outside of unusual circumstances or GPP-specific strategies.

As he demonstrated yesterday, Pederson has massive upside, which leaves him in consideration for large-field tournaments. If the Dodgers can give Richard an early exit, then Pederson's power will play well against the San Diego Padres bullpen. But generally speaking, it's best to stick with the Dodgers righties today.
