Luke Shaw, Defender, Manchester United

Salary: $6,000

As is usually the case when there are a plethora of high priced attackers in great spots, ownership on expensive defenders will be low on Wednesday. At $6,000, Shaw is tied for the sixth most expensive defender on the slate, and is the third most expensive defender on the slate from an elite side, behind Andrew Robertson ($7,000) and Kieran Trippier ($6,500).

Manchester United's massive injury problems will force them to make changes and their starting eleven is likely to include Fred ($6,500), Andreas Pereira ($6,000), and Scott McTominay ($5,500) in the midfield. Despite their lack of proven production in the Premier League, these players' roles as inexpensive pieces of the Red Devil's midfield may make them popular value options. The absence of key attacking players may force Shaw to become more involved in the final third than he already is. If that happens, Shaw's salary of $6,000 becomes cheap for his expected role. Opting for Shaw, a regular starter, over one of the fill-in midfielders, is an excellent way to gain exposure to Manchester United for tournaments.

Even with their injuries, Manchester United only being slight favorites is a small surprise. Crystal Palace has been excellent at home this season, allowing just 9 goals in 13 matches, but they have only faced four elite sides so far, and have allowed at least a goal to each of them. Manchester United have won five in a row on the road and scored 12 goals during that stretch. Their back line and Paul Pogba are still healthy, and despite their recent form both Romelu Lukaku ($11,000) and Alexis Sanchez ($9,500) have a history of performing well against smaller sides. The Red Devils should be fine this weekend, and as a regular starter who may be asked to do more in the final third, Shaw is in a good position.
