Regular Lineups

There can be some lineup juggling based off of performance, but this is the first time in five matchweeks that managers do not have to worry about a quick turnaround. Chelsea played an EFL Cup match on Tuesday, but that is even more time to recover than the teams had been getting during the festive season. Their lineup was full of regular starters, but many should be available on Saturday barring any knocks during the match or training.

Even teams like Cardiff City did not roll out top choice lineups in domestic cup matches this week. Given the number of teams in play that are in the relegation battle, they also cannot afford to send out less than their best players in the Premier League. Staying in the Premier League means more money than winning a domestic cup competition.

All of this means that there is less of a chance that team news will surprise and roster composition is less likely to require a last minute shuffle. Early research will not be disrupted as much as it may have been during the festive season.
